Red Candle Media is owned by a group of friends in Buffalo, NY, who are small business owners, like you. We actually own and operate a tree service and home improvement contracting business, Aquila's Tree and Home Services.

DoodleBug Software was originally written for our own use. When we started our contracting business, a little notebook and pen were all we needed to keep up with customers and scheduling. But, as time went on, we found ourselves going through pages of scribbles in our notebooks, trying to keep up with all of our customers, their information, and projects we needed to schedule or had scheduled. As we got more customers, those tasks became overwhelming with just a notebook. A spreadsheet took care of the "pages of scribbles" problem, but organizing customer information, scheduling, and access were still huge problems.

After the realization that we needed something more than just a notebook or spreadsheet, we started looking for a software product to help us out. We found that most of the software packages out there are way too complex, way too expensive, and filled with piles of features that most businesses won't use. We wanted something web-based, fast, simple, and useful.

So, we finally decided to just write a software package ourselves, with only the features and functions that a small business like ours needs. We're very happy with our product so far and use it daily.

In fact, this software has improved the way our business is organized and run so much, we wanted to share it with other small business owners who may be in the same situation we were when we began writing it. So once again, necessity is the mother of invention.
